Sun Safe Skin & Self Tan

Keeping your skin safe is a top priority but that doesn't mean you can't look great too.

Self Tanning lotions are a great way to achieve a beautiful natural tan without the risk of over exposure to the sun which can not only cause skin ageing/damage but more serious conditions. Simply follow a couple of steps to ensure you get both the best tan and skin protection.

He-Shi self tan is a perfect example of a self tan that's not only easy to use but also kind to your skin, it's important to remember self tans normally do not protect your skin from the sun so you should still apply sun protection cream once it has developed.

When should I apply sun cream?

Once you've applied the self tan you should wait at least 8 hours before using any sun protection cream as it can stop the tan absorbing properly leaving you with a streaky tan which is another reason why it's always best to apply your self tan the night before. Using sun protection cream will also moisturise your skin extending how long your tan lasts too!

Keep it simple;

Apply the self tan the night before you need it.
Showering 8 hours later (or in the morning) to remove any excess tan.
Apply your sun protection cream.

Remember to use He-Shi self tann product for a beautiful, quick and easy tan.

Top Tips

You can apply with a make up sponge or cotton wool using a rubber glove to protect the hands from staining, however we recommend a Velvotan Applicator which is a glove mitt. These glove mitts are available in 2 sizes, small one for the face and a larger mitt for the body. They provide extremely smooth and easy application and are also machine washable for repeated use.

Use lightly over knees, elbows, back of heels, i.e. dry areas of skin as these retain more of the moisturise and appear darker.

It is best to leave a minimum of 5 to 7 hours before showering, but overnight is best. Some surface bronzer will wash off on the first shower.
